The Knowledge Center is a library of content in Catalyzer. Your team adds articles, videos, PDFs, and other material once, then shares it outside Catalyzer through a link, an embed on your website, or Startup Space.
You might use the Knowledge Center to share:
- A recording of your Funding 101 workshop for founders who couldn't attend live
- A loan-readiness checklist as a downloadable PDF
- An article explaining how to register a business in your state
- Links to partner programs hosted on other websites
Before You Start
The Knowledge Center is an optional tool (module) in Catalyzer. It is switched off by default, and it can't be turned on from your hub's Settings. If you don't see it in your left-hand navigation, contact the Catalyzer team to have it enabled for your hub.
Once the tool is on, everyone signed in to your hub can create, edit, feature, and delete Knowledge Center content. There is no read-only role. This works differently from many other Catalyzer tools, so agree as a team on who adds and removes content before you begin.
A few more things to know:
- System Admins can rename the tool. If your hub has done this, the new name replaces "Knowledge Center" in the left-hand navigation, the page heading, and the first tab.
- In a Hub Network, the superhub and every subhub under it share one Knowledge Center library, one set of filters, and one tool name. Each hub still has the tool switched on or off individually.
How the Knowledge Center Is Organized
Every piece of content in the Knowledge Center is an item. Each item has one content type, such as Article or Video, and is tagged with values from your hub's filters (categories like Interest, Industry, and Stage that a System Admin configures).
There are no folders or collections. Filters do all of the organizing, so the way you tag an item decides where people find it.
Each item also carries three settings that work independently of one another:
- Status (Active or Inactive) controls whether the item is available to anyone outside Catalyzer.
- Visibility (Public or Unlisted) controls whether the item is listed publicly or can only be reached by its link.
- Featured pins the item to the top of the default sort order and adds a Featured badge.
In other words, Status decides whether an item can be seen outside Catalyzer at all. Visibility decides whether it is listed where people browse.
Here is how the combinations play out:
- Active and Public: opens for anyone with the link, and is listed in embeds and in Startup Space.
- Active and Unlisted: opens for anyone with the link, but isn't listed in embeds or Startup Space.
- Inactive: available only inside Catalyzer. Anyone who follows its link sees a message that the content is unavailable.
The Knowledge Center Page
Select Knowledge Center (or your hub's name for it) from the left-hand navigation. The page has two tabs:
- The first tab, labeled with the tool name, holds all of your content.
- The Dashboard tab reports on your library and how people engage with it.
On the content tab, the toolbar includes Bulk upload and Export CSV. If your hub has set a page subtitle, it appears under the heading.
Content Types
Every item has one of seven content types. Each type has one required field, and Catalyzer won't save the item until that field is complete.
- Image: a Cover image
- Gallery: one or more Gallery images
- Video: a Video file in mp4 or webm format
- Article: an Article body, written in the rich-text editor
- PDF: a PDF file. Other file types are rejected, including files dragged into the upload area.
- External Link: an External link URL
- Audio: an Audio file in mp3 or wav format
Every type also has a rich-text field. For articles, it's the required Article body. For every other type, the same field is labeled Description and is optional.
Two things are worth knowing before you choose a type:
- Video and audio are file uploads. There is no field for a YouTube or Vimeo link, which may surprise you if you've added videos by URL in Courses. To point people to a video hosted somewhere else, use External Link.
- Only Image items have a cover picture. Cards for every other type show a colored placeholder with the type name.
How to Add Content
- On the Knowledge Center page, click New content.
- Under Basic information, enter a Title. Every item needs one.
- Add an Author if you'd like. It appears on the item as "By" followed by the name.
- Select a Content type tile. New items start on Article.
- Complete the required field for that type, and add a Description if it helps.
- Under Categorization, choose values from each filter. Every filter that has options includes a Select all checkbox.
- Under Access & visibility, set Visibility and Status, and check Mark as featured if the item belongs at the top of the list.
- Click Save.
Items go live the moment you save them. New items default to Active and Public, and there is no separate draft or publish step. If you want to prepare an item before anyone outside Catalyzer can see it, set Status to Inactive first and activate it when it's ready.
If a filter shows no options, a System Admin needs to add them in Settings (see Configuring the Knowledge Center below).

Finding and Managing Content
Grid and List Views
Switch layouts with the Grid View and List View buttons beside New content. Your search, filters, and sort carry over when you switch. Grid view shows 12 items per page, and List view shows 10.
In Grid view, each item appears as a card with its cover or placeholder, a type badge, the title, the author, and a short preview. Cards also show a Featured badge or an Inactive badge when those apply. Each card has an Edit button and a ⋮ menu with these options:
- Make Featured / Unfeature
- Deactivate / Activate
- Make Unlisted / Make Public
- Duplicate
- Delete
List view shows the columns Title, Type, Visibility, Featured, Status, Created, and Actions. Here, the Visibility badge, Featured star, and Status badge change when you click them, which makes List view the quicker place to update settings across several items. Row actions are View, Edit, Duplicate, and Delete.
Searching, Filtering, and Sorting
The Search content field matches an item's title, author, and body text.
The Filters button opens a menu of your hub's filters. Hover over a filter to pick its values. Selected values appear as removable pills below the bar, and Reset Filters clears them.
Filters combine in a specific way. Values within one filter are treated as "or", and separate filters are treated as "and". For example, selecting Seed and Growth under Stage and FinTech under Industry returns items tagged Seed or Growth that are also tagged FinTech.
The bar also includes:
- Content type chips: All, or any combination of the seven types
- Visibility: All visibility, Public, or Unlisted
- Status: Any status, Active, or Inactive
- Featured: Featured: any, Featured, or Not featured
- Created from and Created to date pickers
- Clear filters, which appears once any filter is set
To change the order, choose a sort: Featured (the default, which lists featured items first and then the newest), Most Recent, A–Z, or Z–A.
Viewing an Item
Click a card, or click View in List view, to open an item. You'll see its type, title, author, media, and body. A gallery opens as a carousel, a PDF includes a Download PDF button, and an external link appears as a clickable link.
Every item has Share and Copy link buttons, covered in the next section. Articles also include Mark as read, which changes to Read ✓ once clicked.
Duplicating an Item
Duplicate creates a copy with "(copy)" added to the title, including the original's tags and media. The copy is always created as Inactive, Unlisted, and not featured, and it opens straight into Edit. This gives you a chance to review the copy before anyone outside Catalyzer can see it.
Deleting an Item
Delete asks you to confirm, and then removes the item permanently. It cannot be undone. If you might want the item back later, use Deactivate instead, which takes the item offline and keeps the record.

Sharing Content Outside Catalyzer
Sharing a Single Item
Open an item, then use one of two buttons:
- Copy link copies the item's public link.
- Share opens the Share resource dialog, with buttons for Facebook, X / Twitter, and LinkedIn. Shared posts preview the item's title, description, and image.
The public page doesn't require anyone to sign in. It shows the item's type, title, author, media, and body. PDFs include a Download file button, and external links include an Open link button.
Whether the public page opens depends on the item's Status. Active items open for anyone with the link, whether they are Public or Unlisted. Inactive items show a message that the content is unavailable.
💡 Does Unlisted keep an item private? No. An Unlisted item is left out of embeds and Startup Space, but anyone with its link can open it without signing in. To take an item offline, Deactivate it.
Embedding the Knowledge Center on Your Website
An embed places your Knowledge Center library on another website, such as your organization's resources page. System Admins create embeds in Settings. Embeds are saved in Catalyzer.
- Go to Settings → Tools → Knowledge Center.
- Select the Embeds tab and click New embed.
- Name the embed, then choose:
- which sections to show (Search bar, Filter dropdowns, Sort dropdown, Pagination);
- the filters to include and any preset filters;
- the sort options and the default sort;
- the fields shown (Image, Description, Author, Featured badge);
- whether links open in a new tab or the same window.
- Click Save embed.
Each saved embed has Copy code, Copy link, and Open preview.
An embed lists only items that are Active and Public. Whether Public items appear also depends on Enable public content, covered under Page Customization below.

Startup Space
If your hub uses Startup Space, members can browse your Knowledge Center there as well. They see Active, Public items only and can't make changes. For details on the member experience, see the Startup Space knowledge base.
Adding Content in Bulk
Bulk upload creates many items at once from a CSV file.
- On the Knowledge Center page, click Bulk upload.
- Click Download template to get the CSV template, which includes two sample rows.
- Fill in one row per item.
- Click Choose CSV and select your file. A preview shows up to 50 rows. Rows without a title are highlighted and will be skipped.
- Click the import button, which shows the number of items to be created (for example, Import 24 items).
When the import finishes, Catalyzer reports how many items were created and lists any rows that failed.
Catalyzer reads each column by a few simple rules, and each one can quietly change the result:
- Content Type: use image, gallery, video, article, pdf, link, or audio. Any other value, or a blank cell, imports as an Article.
- Visibility: use public or unlisted. A blank cell imports as Public.
- Status: only the word inactive makes an item Inactive. Anything else, including a blank cell, imports as Active.
- Featured: 1 marks an item as featured. Anything else leaves it unfeatured.
- Interest, Industry, and Stage: one value per cell. These are the only filters the template supports, so tag other filters with Edit after importing.
💡 Note: Bulk upload creates text-only items. The template has no column for files, images, or links, so imported Image, Gallery, Video, PDF, Audio, and External Link items arrive with no media. They also skip the required-field check that New content enforces. Set Status to inactive for every row, attach the media with Edit, and then activate each item. Otherwise, empty items go live as soon as the import finishes.
Exporting Content
Export CSV downloads a file of every item in your library, whatever filters are applied on screen. The file includes each item's id, title, author, type, visibility, status, featured setting, and creation date. You can ignore the is _pay and pay_amount columns.
The export doesn't include body text, tags, or view and click counts. Its column names also differ from the bulk upload template, so an export can't be re-imported as it stands.
The Dashboard
The Dashboard tab shows what's in your library and how people outside Catalyzer engage with it.
Inventory
The top row shows Total content, Active, Featured, Total views, and Favorites. These are live, all-time figures, and the date filter doesn't change them.
Engagement
Everything below the top row follows the date filter, except Most viewed, which covers all time. Choose a preset (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Month, Last Month, This Year, or Last Year) or a Custom Range. The Dashboard opens on Last 7 Days, and there is no all-time option for engagement.
- Total clicks, Public clicks, and Embed clicks
- Reads
- Clicks by source and Clicks over time
- Most clicked: click any row to open Click details, a table of individual clicks showing When, Timezone, Who, and Source. Visitors who aren't signed in appear as Guest.
- Most viewed: the five most viewed items of all time
- Content by type and Content by visibility
What Each Number Measures
- Views count opens inside Catalyzer. Visits to the public page or an embed don't add views.
- Clicks count visits from outside Catalyzer, through public links and embeds. Opening an item inside Catalyzer never adds a click.
- Reads count uses of Mark as read on articles inside Catalyzer.
💡 Why don't my views and clicks line up? They measure different audiences. Views come from your team inside Catalyzer, and clicks come from people outside it. Clicking a card in an embed also records two clicks: an Embed click, and then a Public click when the item's public page opens. This is expected, so your total clicks will run roughly double the number of people who clicked through an embed.

Configuring the Knowledge Center in Settings
System Admins configure the Knowledge Center in Settings → Tools → Knowledge Center. The page has three tabs: Page Customization, Filters, and Embeds (covered above).
Page Customization
- Tool name renames the left-hand navigation item, the page heading, and the first tab.
- Page subtitle sets the line that appears under the heading.
- Enable public content controls whether Public items are listed in browse and embeds.
Click Save. The new name and subtitle appear right away, without reloading the page.
Filters
Hubs start with five filters, each with options already loaded: Interest, Expertise, Stage, Industry, and Communities of Interest. You can have up to 10 filters.
To add a filter:
- Select the Filters tab and click Add Filter.
- Enter a Filter Name and, if you'd like, a Description.
- Choose a Color. This is the dot shown beside the filter in the Filters menu.
- Check Allow multiple selections if people browsing should be able to pick more than one value from this filter. This setting applies to the Filters menu and embeds. Authors can always tag an item with several values.
- Under Options, add each value with Add new option.
- Click Create Filter.
To change an existing filter, open it, make your changes, and click Save Filter. To rename an option, click it.
Renaming a filter is safe. Tagged items stay tagged, and embeds already on your website keep working. Renaming an option works differently. Items already tagged with the old value keep it, but the old value is no longer offered, so those items drop out of that option's results until someone re-tags them. For example, if you rename the Stage option Early Stage to Pre-Revenue, items tagged Early Stage won't appear under Pre-Revenue until they're updated.
Delete Filter asks you to confirm. Once deleted, the filter is no longer offered when tagging content, and this cannot be undone.

Putting It Together
The Knowledge Center gives your organization one place for the material founders ask for again and again, tagged by the same categories your team uses to describe the businesses you serve. Every click from a public link or embed is recorded with a time and a source, so the Dashboard shows which content people actually open and helps you decide what to write next.
